The greatest number of Lenci dolls have the proportions of a child. The production of Lencis began in the era of the child doll known as a Mama Doll, and although strictly speaking Lencis are not “Mama Dolls” because they do not have a voice box, nevertheless the earliest child dolls do show the preference of the period for the children.
The low center of gravity enables most of the Lenci children to stand by themselves .
Many of them seemingly engaged in childhood occupations through the accessories
such as jumping rope, playing with a ball, rolling a hoop and riding a hobby horse or a stick horse Lenci child dolls appeared in Playthings in October 1920. Playthings continued to show child dolls in their Lenci ads through 1929.
These are all dressed as girls. Their short hair is generally bushy. Lenci advertised that they used genuine hair on dolls representing children and babies. Genuine hair could be mohair as well as human hair. Most of these dolls appear to have the fingers separated only by Sewing,except for the thumb. Other than the 109s, nearly all dresses are sleeveless or only with a small cap sleeve. The majority of the dresses are shifts or long tunics without waistlines. 
Medium width skirts extend nearly to the knees. Most of the dresses, coats and hats appear to be felt. Several of the dolls wear rompers and one carries a spade. In 1922 a doll in a one-piece sleeping garment carries a candle and holder.
Another doll has a round silver colored metal button with the word Lenci” on it that is attached to the doll’s lace trimmed muslin teddy. This metal tag could be the forerunner of the round silver colored cardboard tag which is found attached to the clothes of Lenci dolls.
